Black Rock Sands & Morfa Bychan

The area around Black Rock Sands has several holiday parks and campsites, some within a short walk of the beach. These are among the most popular in North Wales in summer; book well in advance for July and August. The combination of beach access and mountain backdrop makes this an outstanding location for a camping holiday.

Sites Toward the Llŷn

Heading west onto the Llŷn Peninsula, smaller farm campsites offer a quieter alternative to the larger coastal parks. Many are on or near the Wales Coast Path and offer stunning sea views. These smaller sites typically require advance booking in summer.

Glamping

Glamping options have grown significantly in recent years. Shepherd’s huts, yurts and luxury camping pods are available in the countryside around Porthmadog, offering warm, comfortable accommodation with the benefit of outdoor access. A popular choice for couples and small families who want the countryside experience without a tent.

Camping Tips

West-facing Wales gets its share of rain and wind, often arriving from the Atlantic. A good waterproof tent and sleeping bag rated to at least 5°C are worthwhile at any time of year. The midges that trouble some parts of Wales are less prevalent near the coast where there is a breeze.
