Royal Sportsman Hotel

The Royal Sportsman on the High Street is Porthmadog’s main town-centre hotel, occupying a substantial Victorian coaching inn. En-suite rooms, bar and restaurant on site; well placed for the railways and harbour. Parking available to the rear. A solid base for exploring the area.

Portmeirion Hotel

Four miles west at Portmeirion, the hotel within the famous village offers an unmatched setting. Rooms are in the main hotel building and in lodges scattered through the woodland. The restaurant is the finest in the area. Guests have access to the village before and after day visitor hours — a magical experience. Book well ahead; the hotel is consistently popular.

Guest Houses & B&Bs

Porthmadog and the surrounding villages have a good range of B&Bs and guest houses. These smaller establishments often provide the best local knowledge — owners who know which walks are best in current conditions, where to find the best meal in the area, and how to make the most of a visit. Packed lunches available from many on request.

Booking Tips

July and August see the highest demand. The autumn half-term period (late October) is also busy, particularly at properties near the coast. Portmeirion Hotel rooms fill months in advance for peak weekends.
